I am going to provide a fairly generous definition here: A super family is a collection of related font families which include multiple core stylistic classifications.
Below I am referring to these core stylistic classifications simply as styles. A very classic example is a sans + serif super family. Given the increased commonality of sans + mono families, I have opted to leave most of those out.
If you are familiar with the TypeFoundry.Directory, then you probably know that the list I will provide below isn’t intended to be encyclopedic but rather curated, opinionated, and simplified.
